From the screenshots, it's obvious that she is not affected because she has savings and her loan is fully paid off. Younger middle class families with children and debts should feel the pinch more.
Not only not affected but earn even more as they increase price iras don’t tax them if they under declare …. Every increase is direct profit to them…. Many hypocrite hawkers out there are like this

Yes. They will feel the pinch as they get squeezed on the left by gst. On the right by inflation and in the center by job loss or wage cuts.

Its not going to be a pretty picture. Most will end up foregoing and downsizing their expenses as there will be a lot less if anything after paying bills and mortgage.

The lady's hawker business might end up a lorry instead.

Let's also not forget that interest rates will rise this year. For middle class families with heavy debts, even a 1% rise can be a huge effect. If the young parents lose their jobs, even worse.

We have yet to see how the entire year 2022 will unfold.

I like this reason the best....to paraphrase it

"My flat already paid up so gst rise I don't."

That's to say, if she still had to pay off her flat loan, she would mind. Of course, she is the ONLY ONE in sg who has a flat loan but since she has already paid it off, it's ok to raise it. /s
