now the aus PR thingy is a bit tricky...

i wonder for this case:
studied in brisbane, degree for 1yr8mths.
came back to work for a while
now going to melbourne for a 1.5yrs masters course...

qualified for PR based on study points?
meaning adding the 1.5yrs to 1yr8mths... although in between a break.

if so, when can start applying and usually how long it takes to qualify?.. in order to have lower tuition fees and able to start working over there...?

Normally it takes 4-6 months for processing, heard it personally from a Singaporean now Aussie PR. More information in regards to qualification for PR can be found on the Aussie Immigration website. Google it and you should be able to get detailed answers there. I'll love to be Aussie PR as well. Do check out and post it here will ya. Having exams tommorow, no time to check it up now. Cheers

But that means they still must issue conditional PR for that.

that is for those who don't qualify for PR

then they have to apply for 18 month Skilled-Graduate if they want to continue to stay in aus to work

Ok, 2 questions, how does the level of competency in english compare, when we say GCE O versus IELTS (even if we have O levels, we still have to take IELTS)? And they will not be giving points under the MODL section because I dun have prior experience (Thats bad news)?

the chances of getting the job there as a foreigner is low for an entry-level applicant like yourself. Even the graduate position at accounting firms or commerical firms require the applicant to have a PR or citizrnship. As such, your chances are real low. Unless you have something that the organisation wanted and no one in the local job market could offer. then perhaps u have a chance and it requires a lot of paperwork to be done with the immigration dept. with the organisaion.

Best alternative for u is to earn the experience in your home-country and apply as a skilled independent migrant, dpending on the demand for ur occupation.

Hope this helps.

After studying for 2 years and applying for a PR will be good as u have a higher chance of getting it. but do remember to lodge it before 1 sep'07 as the new requirement requires applicant to have 1 or 2 yrs of work experience. prior to that date, it is not required for a graduate of a 2 yrs course in Aust to have any work experience.

naturally, once the PR is obtained, getting a job is easy.

Their labour laws protects their own citizens and PRs first. foreigners like us comes in secondary.
