Auto Restart

Hi all,

Need some help here. My computer auto restarted while I was doing some work a few days ago. When that happened, whenever I tried to boot up my computer, it just keeps restarting.

At first I thought it was my OS but when I re-installed it, I had the same problem. Even when I was in BIOS to check the settings, my computer would auto restart.

I've taken out the RAM and GFX CARD to give it a blow and refitted them back. Any other ideas what I can do to troubleshoot?

I was thinking if brining it to a computer repair shop either in Sim Lim or anywhere near AMK today.

Would you all be able to point me to a reliable repair shop? Thanks a million guys !!

I don't know why u even reinstall OS is when the issue is not the OS .:-


Check the psu

There are a few causes of restart during boot up. It depends at what stage.

If it is before POST, it could mean some of your hardware are defective or not properly seated. It could be your PSU, mobo, ram or CPU or graphic card.

If it is after POST, most likely will be your HDD is going to die. In this case, better to backup all your important data.

probably the PSU or the motherboard might cause the auto restart. Could be the HDD is gonna die also.

But if let's say if motherboard is faulty and judging from the specs on your right, you might need to change a new com.

Your Abit mobo is still strong till now? Maybe time is calling it up the lorry.

Hey guys, no that was an old computer. I got an i3 about 4 years ago.

Anyway, all is running well now. Brought it down to SLS and replaced the thermal paste, cleaned all the fans to get rid of dust and added another side fan.

All good now.
