Hi all,

I’m considering installing one of those automated ceiling-mounted drying racks (the motorised type), but I have some concerns about the installation and impact on the ceiling.

From what I understand, installation will require drilling holes to secure the rack.

For those who have installed this before:

Will the drilling leave large or noticeable holes in the ceiling?

If I remove the rack in future, will the holes be difficult to patch or conceal?

Does installation typically require trunking (casing) for the power cable, and will that result in visible cracks or lines on the ceiling?

Alternatively, is it possible to run concealed wiring instead of trunking, and does that depend on the electrical load (amp) or existing wiring setup?.

What kind of holes are usually drilled (e.g. similar to small kitchen fixture holes), and are they generally easy to repair?

I already checked with the supplier as well but they nor any other company are answering my questions properly , but would appreciate hearing from anyone with firsthand experience—especially in HDB or condo units. Thanks in advance.

Condos may not allow. Ask the MCST.

Yes, it is entirely safe and legal to install a clothes drying rack in an Housing & Development Board (HDB) service yard, provided you follow structural and safety guidelines. The service yard is designated by HDB specifically for laundry and utility purposes.

you can use existing light point to power it, however you wont have light for that area, have to use the laundry rack light. unless u add on another light point for that if you are renovating your house. otherwise have to pull power cable and result in trunking.
