hi all,

i came across a pretty decent desktop selling for $899 with the following specs:

1TB HDD + 128GB SSD
i5-8400
8GB RAM
UHD intel 630

the only drawback, imo, is that the wireless network is b/g/n rather than the latest ac version.

is there any implication for this? or is it alright to go for b/g/n?

and also, is it possible to use adaptor or a router to "upgrade" the b/g/n to ac?

thanks in advance!
Aesthetic considerations? Change the mini pcie card but if there are no matching pigtail for antennae, please buy on your own and fit .

Otherwise, usb3 cable extension with an ac1900 usb dongle at its end.

Or you could just run a lan cable.

my I-don't-know-what singtel thingy is in the living room, but my pc is in my own room so I cannot connect my modem to my pc.

any recommendation for a wireless router? or should I get the mesh system?

but at the end of the day even if I get a router my wifi is still limited by my device's bgn network card, so should I get an ac adaptor instead and see whether the speed improves before investing in a router or a mesh system?

Nobody can provide much advice to you without knowing your setup and other details.

If possible do provide the router model and layout of your premise to show where is the router and your computer location, as most others did in other threads.
In this way we could at least have an ideal of your situation.

Beside the best is to have a cabling trunking else other options on routers, mesh and even powerline can be considered.
