I suffered a sharp pain on my lower back on last year December. Followed by occasionally numb and weak on my right leg when prolonged standing and walking.

Appointment on this year Jan, just got my MRI scan last week and gotten back my result today.

I will just list the main one

Report:
Small posterior disc protrusion noted at ?4/5 level, which indents upon the thecal sac ( Se 7/5 ), but does not cause significant spinal canal, lateral recess or neural exit foraminal narrowing.

There is no paravertebral mass.

Comments:
Small posterior disc protrusion at L4/5 level, indenting upon the thecal sac, but not causing significant spinal canal, lateral recess or neural exit foraminal narrowing.

Anyone can tell me whether is this slip disc or not??

I am in a combat unit right now.

I told the doctor i have difficulty prolong walking and climbing stairs.

Although I was given 3 months excused RMJ and heavy load. When comes to outfield activity, I still have to carry store items which is making my condition worsen.
The physician told me is not life threatening. Hence not downgrading me and refer me to a Spine Surgeon for another appointment in another 3 weeks.

It's been 3 months and I can only sleep one side in camp, back pain when sitting, walk awkwardly during some occasions and was asked to eat painkillers everyday.
Physiotherapy on every 2 weeks which i find is not helping....

Any advice? To private hospital or further waiting?

You got a doctor to ask but you choose to ask people in this forum whether you got slipped disc????

Get more excuse first? If that's what you want.

I got similar condition too, of couse not 100% same as you.

Don go government, go for private, google for Dr Ngian Kite Seng, call and make apt with his clinic

Orthopaedics Spine Surgery in Singapore | Orthopaedics International

First time there, bring all your MRI and MRI letter stating your condition.
Ask him, need operation or can downgrade or not.

If can, he will write memo to SAF MO, for me, permanent downgrade, need not go exercise or IPPT.

Last month, I just do operation for L4/5, also same time go ICT, MO suggest me to go medical board again.

of course, for the cost, I average pay abt $107 - $150 per visit for Dr Ngian.

He's a patience doctor and friendly

You should relay your concerns to your doctor, and I discourage you to have multiple consultation with different doctors at once. Either you continue to stay with your current doc for f/u, or you could seek another doc for consultation.

physiotherapy doesn't improve your condition overnight, needs weeks and months to see effect.

perhaps you can try telling your camp MO first, and see what he can help you until your specialist doc comes to a conclusion?

if you are a NSF, best is go public hospital coz its FREE when u give them 11B.

If you go private, it is very costly and may cost you few thousands.

Bottomline is what u want, downgrade? or go for operation and hopefully can solve your back problem.

Yeah I know 11B is free, the thing is about the waiting. Wait for appointment for 1 month, then 2 months for MRI, then another 1 month for another appointment.

Only scared the longer i drag, my injury is worsen. For now i just wait for the next appointment by the spine doctor from govt doctor.

Thanks for the advises given by bros, really appreciated.

If you can afford the expensive medical cost, you can go Private. To be honest with you, for back problem, there is no such things as 100% cure. You can only try not to worsen the situation by doing physiotherapy.

When you go for a private specialist, they more or less will try to get u to do surgical that's where they earn your $$$. Specialist can't help u much except for giving u some pain killers and end up still need to do surgical which easily cost 5 figure.

For public hospital, at least everything is paid for and is free.

go to private if you are 100% covered , meaning need not pay deductible or co-payment.

I'm covered under AIA Essential A.
Back problem don wait.
Confirm downgrade, and operation, painkiller is useless, TCM also useless

I went to endorse my memo and it has to be through S1 branch to book an appointment. My next appt with the MO is in one month time.

Didn't know is so troublesome. Just got the service injury form, normally how long does it take to process?

Just got my spine specialist appointment.

May I ask whats the sentence mean in the memo:

"His neurological status is unremarkable. please assess him if he is suitable for downgrade."

So i just pass this memo to the MO and refer me to medical board straight? Or I still need to wait for medical review?
