Before you send in your iPhone for repair or battery replacement, do you usually do a full back up followed by resetting your phone to factory status?

when you back up, do you use iCloud or computer?

for those using iCloud, if your data is above 256GB, how do you do it?

do you temporarily purchase iCloud+ 2TB, and cancel after you reinstore the data ?

thanks

I always backup my iphone to my computer before I send for service.
To iphone is super easy, just click 1 backup button.
Actually I always backup my iphone weekly :)
I used to do that.

but as time goes on, the CPU gets laggier and my iPhone data gets bigger, this back up approach starts to take hours.

maybe it is my own issue

iCloud seems to be better from experience.

pay for higher storage?

sounds like a good idea.

I think iCloud is better in that regard.

I think your iTunes maybe corrupted. Totally delete iTunes then reinstall.

perhaps your iphone is 512GB? mine is 256GB normally took around 20-30 mins, my free space 60GB :)

I also do the backup to computer method.

Nowadays, SSD (SATA) or even NVME SSD is very cheap.

Even my 1TB Ipad Pro can be backed up onto my computer SSD.

I used to do that.

The slow speed is likely due to writing to a slow HDD ( maybe?) for your case.

If you backup to an SSD, the speed is usually quite fast, well maybe around 1/2 hour like armadilloshield too.

For screen replacement, just need to remove case/screen protector, backup data and turn off find my. Best to backup the day before appointment so don’t waste time there. No need to reformat. Done in 1 hour. This was my recent experience at MBS.

Same experience today at MBS. Screen replacement due to pixel error.
Appointment at 10am. Replacement done and phone collected at 11am. My phone wasn’t erased or reset during the repair.
They required nric or Singpass when you collect phone.

Do you mean the NRIC or driving license from SingPass?

I show my NRIC in singpass. Suggest bring your actual NRIC, in case your phone got erased during the repair!
Right so is more about a form of identity. not so much "singpass". I thought now need to scan singpass to get the phone back
