They say backing up is an important thing, so I'm trying to get started.

I started with the Windows 7 built-in backup utility. It worked well for awhile, then stopped and gave me some stupid error which I tried to but couldn't fix. Long story short it's bullsh1t M$ stuff as usual.

Then I tried Duplicati, which is freeware and also worked the first time. But on subsequent backup it just filled my backup drive to the brim and complained "not enough space", and that doesn't make sense because the dedicated external backup drive is much bigger than the sum of directories I've selected for backup. So this doesn't work.

I'm avoiding Norton Ghost because like all Norton stuff it's going to be bloated and complex and sticky and messy and...you get the idea. So no.

Acronis lacks a 64-bit version, so, pity about that.

Anyone else can recommend a lightweight, simple backup software? I don't need sophisticated stuff, all I want are copies of selected folders, backed up weekly or whenever I so choose. That's all. No need for shadow copies or incremental saves or old versions whatever.

Cheerio,
Nicholas
