Apple Expected To Consume 25% Of All DRAM In 2015, Impact Industry Trends - HotHardware

It has nothing to do with demand for PC Memory.....Its actually smartphone/tablet memory demand thats causing the increase.

DRAM manufacturers switching over to LPDRAM to cater for the demand leaving less PC DRAM available, hence driving up prices......

Btw, also read rumours about adoption of DDR4. Cant remember the source but read that DDR4 adoption should be relatively fast even though prices may be still high. The reason is that its not commercially viable for DRAM manufacturers to maintain both DDR3 and DDR4 manufacturing lines for PC DRAM so manufacturers will shift over to DDR4.

Duh.....who image that PC DRAM is that non-profitable these days......

Actually, I think they are inter related since there has been a stagnant/ weak demand in PC, and a strong demand in mobile computer.

It makes sense for manufacturers to shift production to a market segment with higher demand. Considering the number of PC sold versus number of Smart phones and tablets sold, it is obvious.

The irony is, they are are projected to use that much ram when their new iPhone only have 1GB of it... :s13:
