Red WD used for Synology started have error beeps, checked error msg and it showed back sector. Connect it to my pc and able to detect it at bios but unable to "see" it on windows.

Used Macrot Disk Partiion (Free version) and confirmed that it was two bad sector. Was searching online of how to fix bad sector mainly either used windows, which wont work for me. Using paid software but i'm sure there is freeware that is able to do it thought i cant seem to find.

Any recommedations?

Thanks

saw Toshiba listed on price list seems like "standard" hard disk. White HGST is listed as NAS, any difference or just marketing :p

Agree, was using Toshiba 7200rpm 2TB HDD in my DS414 over 3 years before selling both off. Now using DS418 with another 4x Toshiba 2TB HDD too. HDD is having same model and firmware as previous.

Browse to page 462 of Synology Owner Club and view the difference between Red and Toshiba HDD price.
