I have GBP (quite a lot, for studies) i want to put into a HSBC GBP account, but...

they charge 1.5% if i deposit GBP cash over the counter...

so, i thought of a longer method..

Open a DBS multi currency, deposit to DBS (no fee), den do interbank tranfer of GBP to HSBC. But this way HSBC also charge fee.

any method to avoid HSBC fee? HSBC seems like sucking me no matter what method I try to deposit.

any suggestion how to put my GBP cash into HSBC yet incurring the least fee?

Taking the idea from here http://forum.therightu.com/discussion/36/opening-uk-bank-from-singapore Maybe you can apply for HSBC student account or an account from a bank near your school when you reach UK.
