Am getting on with age, so looking to buy some simple gym equipment for home use and do strength exercise regularly, not hardcore type. Read various article online, both have pros and cons.

Experts here, what are your recommendation? Decathlon good place to do the buying?

Decathlon price is reasonable and selection is pretty decent.

I saw i-running selling adjustable dumbells that can also attach together by an adapter bar to become a barbell. Or can use another adapter to make into kettlebell.

Good and reliable or not? Pricing reasonable?

Not worth. The irunning max 11kg adjustable dumbell with the bar and grip extensions goes for $235. I think its possible to get a pair of 24kg adjustable dumbell on shopee for around the same price. Only reason to consider is if you really must have the bar and grip extensions.

Never used the accessory bar/grip/adapter before. But would like to try for deadlift and squat.

Try checking with the seller if the bar and grip extensions are compatible with the 25kg model. My main concern is eventually outgrowing the 11kg dumbells if you are not lifting heavier than that already. Might also be worth waiting for 11/11 sale to see if there are discounts since Irunning is selling on Lazada.

FYI was doing a search on taobao and shopee and from what i saw, i believe the bar and grip extensions are compatible with any dumbells(adjustable or even conventional ones) since all you do is secure onto the handle part. A pair of 24kg adjustable dumbells can be had on shopee for around $160-170. Get the bar and grip extensions from irunning for $70 so total you spend is only around $240.

So i actually went to Irunning showroom and the staff said their bar and grip adapters only works specifically with their in house adjustable dumbbells.

I ordered this for around $50 from taobao instead. According to reviews its compatible with those oem made in china adjustable dumbbells which i own. Will give an update when i receive delivery.

How's everything? Can I copy your setup? Maybe if u can kindly share the links here for the dumbells n adapters. Then I will try to find them via shopee though.

The taobao seller did not ship out the adapters and order got cancelled. I went and order some resistance bands instead. I could not find the adapters being sold on shopee or lazada other than the ones from i-running which they claimed only works with their own in house adjustable dumbells.

The adjustable dumbbells i have are these generic made in china ones but they serve the purpose. Used to cost $250-300 for a pair of 24kg but got them for below $150 during the past 11/11 sale. This one is older model where adjusting the gear requires both hands.

There is a newer, slightly more expensive model where the adjustment dial is on the inside and only requires one hand to twist and turn.

I see 拼多多 has the bar and grip adapters for sale. Cheaper than taobao and free sea shipping as long min. spend 99rmb. Downside i read that 拼多多 shipping and then last mile delivery lead time takes 3-4 weeks, barring delays lol. If my spin bike purchase from 拼多多 goes well, might consider getting the adapters there.

As seen in the picture, the adjustable dumbbell is fair bit longer than your conventional dumbbell. Because of this, quite frequently i have had the 2 dumbbells bang against each other when doing certain motions(biceps curls especially). Also you can feel slight movement of the plates when working out.
