Last year when i went, even BCS mall was jam packed and due to jams had to give 40min allowance or more for a 10min taxi ride from nagoya to batam ferry terminal.

Went last weekend, Nagoya barely any weekend crowd and the jams have almost disappeared as not as many cars on the road. Didn't even need to give time allowance to go ferry terminal as almost no jam.

Even DC Mall and Kepri Mall also like bo lang liao.

Ya but not to the extent that even the local people who also visit the malls have diminished so significantly.

Now too easy to bargain a 100k rupiah souvenir shirt to 20k rupiah.

I just went to batam.... HarbourBay mall is like a wrecked mall.

Also, a caution to those who go batam... The taxi drivers are horrible cheats. From HarbourBay to nagoya was quoted 50k, when arrived ask 60k... But I insisted that we agreed on 50k and only gave him 50k

On the way back from nagoya mall to HarbourBay was quoted 60k. When arrive at location, I only had 100k he claimed got no change. Lucky I was able to dig all my tiny notes to make up 60k

I know and that's why i use bluebird taxi or walk if going anywhere nearby harbourbay terminal. Example, From BCS mall, i can walk to harbourbay ferry and nagoya mall. because bluebird use meter. however need to know where their pick up points are before calling their taxi dispatch to book a taxi.

nearest bluebird pick point from batam ferry terminal is the the indosat building entrance at the exit of Megamall. Bluebird taxis cost ard 55000 rupiah from there to Nagoya mall compared to 80000 rupiah from batam ferry terminal.

That's why i pick harbourbay terminal nowadays. so convenient to go the eating and shopping places as well as the mobile night markets that spring up in the area.

Hard to go wrong with any place near BCS mall or Nagoya mall.

BCS to Nagoya is around 20-30mins there if follow the main road at sightseeing speed. If in a hurry, Gojek is cheapest form of app priced transport on the island for solo travellers. Harbourbay to Nagoya by Gojek is about 10 mins.

If one day trip, what i usually do is from harbourbay walk to nagoya as will pass local shops with local foodfare. After a few hours at Nagoya, walk over to BCS for the cheaper supermarket and the A1 foodcourt opposite for dinner. And then take any taxi from there back to harbourbay ferry for ferry back to sg.

Take note that Gojek is motorcycle taxi so not recommended unless all your stuff can fit into a backpack.

Where Gojek is app priced, the island Ojeks price depends on your negotiation skill but usually they will charge 60k rupiah from batam ferry terminal to nagoya while taxi charge 80k. In this case, take taxi but it will be 50k rupiah if you can pull off an indonesian accent as thats the accepted rate on the island.
