I have a small problem where I have a big bunch of 24fps MOV files straight from DSLR and need to batch convert all of them to 4fps PNG sequence.
So far I've tried MPC (only exports single frame or thumbnail grid), VirtualDub (does not accept MOV), ffmpeg (have no idea how to use at all), Quicktime (cannot find export image sequence function unlike older versions) and VLC (command line not working for some reason).
Can someone advise how I should go about doing this conversion please? Preferably without having to re-encode 6gb of HD video into another format but if necessary I will. Most important is a batch method of sorts because there are many small clips instead of fewer longer ones.
Have access to both PC and Mac so feel free to suggest suitable methods and workflows for any platform.
Thank you for your reply. After reading up on plugins and filters and whatnot for Virtualdub, I managed to get it to open the MOV files and export to PNG. No batch so I had to select over 200 files individually and get it to export to image sequence.
Another problem though, Vdub only exports every single frame. I've dumped the output into 1 folder with a 4-digit header. (eg. MOV_1234 -> 12340001.png)
There's probably thousands of images in that folder. Assuming a target of 4fps, is it possible to write a script or using cmd to copy out 1 out of every 6 consecutive files?
Edit: Since this is a separate issue from the thread title I have created a new one here.
Mediacoder does indeed look like just what I need and JPG is fine. However I feel like a total idiot not knowing how to work it. I have set my parameters in the Image Sequencer tab on the right panel and hit Start but the output is just a very compressed video file? How do I make it output JPG instead of video? Summary keeps telling me target format MP4, H.264 which is not what I want. Neither their forums nor google has provided me with an answer. Apparently people don't use it to make JPG sequences.
