This can be explained through many factors. One of it being that in March there's no other genuine blockbuster shows at the theatres to compete with them. If they had shown this in June, it may be a different story.

Likewise, one cannot deny there is a lot of hype about this show.

Take Marvel's Antman for instance, it's probably the weakest of all the Marvel films and yet it did decently in box office. That doesn't mean it's a fantastic movie.

Likewise there are plenty of cult movies out there which did poorly at the box office initially but garnered their own fan base subsequently.

Eh marvel fan, they kena records you cannot sleep at night is it lololol

Still must see final box office lah. I suspect the takings will drop drastically for next few weeks as many might change their mind to watch after the poor reviews.

Hopefully I'm wrong and the box office can be at least near 1 billion as I really dun find this show bad.

I arm-chio when someone mentioned DC don't have enuff interesting/powerful villains that caused massive destructions. So mani god-like villains that are more powerful than superman.

Dun understand why fans need to be so pro Marvel and undermine DC. Juz becoz majority of the public knows Marvel better, doesn't meant DC cmi.

If I want to nitpick story and plotholes of any movies, I can go on to list. Even marvel movies have some negative stuffs to talk abt.

Why cannot enjoy both Marvel and DC movies?

enjoy both is can lah. but at least the product must be enjoyable or decent first mah. you give such a weak story with so many big plot holes, how to enjoy? Want enjoy, go watch Nolan Batman series better.

Lets think of this possibility: Perhaps ppl say this movie is bad because it is bad, not because people are bias and is pro Marvel :o

Not sure if possible since China don't really like it and reaction worldwide is mixed. If it doesn't reach 800M then they really screwed up.

those DC fanboys need to chill...the film is getting bad reviews for alot of reasons but the greatest faults of BvS is the editing and scene transitions. This is the reason why it is getting some of the lowest scores from film critics.

Personally i found the film to be okay in terms of 'entertaining' value but if i put on my film critics hat (i considered myself a film buff as i watched alot of movies), BvS committed quite a few cardinal sin that many serious movie critics (including myself) cannot forgive.

I can give you 2 examples of extremely lazy and bad editing.

- There's a scene where Perry White shouted:"Where's Clark Kent? Anyone seen Clarke Kent? He must been hurling his a$$ back in Kansas."

In basic film school, where they teach you how to write a movie script and movie editing, these scene would have been transition directly to clarke kent/superman himself. But in BvS, after this scene, it transition to a whole different scene nothing to do with superman, then another scene and then finally Superman. This is basic film editing/screenplay writing 101 and somebody screw this up big time.

- In the final scene during superman funeral, it focused on Bruce & Diana talking...then cut to the prison with Luthor and batman threatening him....then cut back to the funeral. Another bad editing. It will be appropriate if there's some context if Bruce said something like 'I've taken care of the Luthor problem' before the cut to the prison scene...but there's no such thing so the cut creates a 'time confusion' unneccessary.
Another extremely lazy/bad editing.

Either Zack Snyder and/or David S Goyer need to go back to film school.

(p.s. I've never been to film school but i've watched enough movies in my life to know how the screenplay is being written and how a movie should be edited)

Haha, are you sure that's nitpick though. If say minor plotholes ok lah, but i dont think you can seriously say these plotholes can sweep under carpet. Since they concern the characters' primary motives. ok lah, so we agree Wonder Woman is just there not for plot, is because just so they can unite the trinity on screen only. :o style over substance loh. Just switch off brain during the plot and just focus on the action scenes and trinity scenes can liao :o if want story that make sense go watch nolan batman trilogy better

Its not really about the plotholes even though they mattered. Its your way of finding fault that could be easily be applied to almost any movie. So its nitpicking even though I can agree some may have more weightage than others that matter more overall in this movie. Nolan had a trilogy to make Batman right as per his legacy everyone can identify with, you can't envy Snyder for what he's up against (from studio/fanbase) for the BvS standalone. They're different so I don't understand the comparison or where the hate is emanating from. Some gripes could easily make sense with google and I didn't need to switch anything off to enjoy BvS. Its about knowing as well as choosing whether to make that connection. I will say its certainly isn't FF or Transformer bad as you or the reviews seem to suggest. :s13:

Umm You don't understand how rt works. Rt % is based on how many people did not rate it more than 5 or 6 /10. Not that the movie is rated 30 something %. So people who rate it 5/10 will still consider as rotten. Thus means that around 70% of them people rate it below 5 or 6 /10. In terms of individual score, transformer and FF scored worst.

Btw with rt transformer scored worst too.

i don't think it can sustain high box office after the initial weekend.

Many of the biggest blockbuster release were due to repeated viewings:

- Avatar got huge earning due to majority of the ticket sales were from the higher priced 3D version

- Titanic got huge earnings due to repeated viewings from female audiences (and their spouse being dragged to it)

- Star Wars and Avengers got huge earning due to being good enough and repeated viewing from nerds and geeks

- Transformers got huge earnings due to kids dragging their parents to see it

BvS doesn't have the majority in 3D sales like Avatar, will not get repeated viewing sales from females like Titanic, doesn't get repeated viewings from Nerds & geeks like Star Wars/Avengers and i am not sure whether children will drag their parents to watch BvS as it is not really kids friends (there's more scenes of ppl talking and fighting unlike transformers which is just robots fighting for 2/3 of the movie)

my 2 cents.

Doomsday and Bizzaro should be in the list somewhere... Powerful Brute category perhaps...

Got repeated viewing, a lot of people can't belive that the movie is so bad and went back to confirm it is user problem. Haha.

Ya, dun think the eventual numbers will be superb or among the best. But the great opening weekend at least gave it some buffer not to become a box office failure

Like I said, I wouldn't equate them to the typical minor plot holes in other movies, considering some of them are related to the characters' core motives. But if you insist they are similar and thus is nitpicking, and that excuses the weak plot, then I rest my case :o

It will never be a 'failure' going by brand name and marketing alone but i don't think it will ever enter the hall of fame of all time top grossing films....

like i said, many of the top grossing films of all time were due to repeated viewings and i just can't fathom anyone would wanna spend their 2.5 hours watching BvS again.

Stop treating them like pundits. I'd take the audience score more seriously if I were looking for a sign.
