imo it is quite nice overall, worth a watch.
the critics are too much, using how a DC movie should be made, instead of the movie as its own merits.

the main negatives i feel are that batman has too many weird dreams and some of them are not even connected or necessary. and the editing was bad - story out in parts, jump here and there. it feels that they are cramping too much in under 3hours. a better editing of the flow and slight tweak of the storyline would make it a much better movie.

This is pretty much the consensus amongst most reviews...
Some harsh critics really dissed the film but I think most people find it an ok movie but could have been so much better.

i am surprised by the number of viewers falling asleep during first half of the movie.

the first part of the movie to me is the best. why? that is the part Batman/Superman questioning their version of justice. With Superman questioning whether his foster father's teachings were wrong all along. Batman questioning if he should allow such a being to be roaming freely. And the senator's dilemma to bring Superman into the court.

Lex's character is the worst i find. Marvel has got a problem with weak villain development. this one got none. None is okay. Dark Knight's Joker got no history at all and yet was so well remembered. Why did Lex invite all his potential enemies to the party? server room jus below the ballroom? assistant got no idea what is happening?

and then came the problem with the movie forgotten what it is about. the movie force feed viewers that this is the beginning of future movies. it tries to create the "more-is-coming" hole. and it failed.

another problem is Superman. what can he not do? so they have to intro an enemy that is powerful. (General Zod included). as grounded as the first half of the movie, the 2nd half of it jus lift off and throw CGI boogers onto its viewers.

agreed. The story is very good and realistic.

Just imagine superman come down to earth one day. Do you think human going to worship him even if he do good only?
I dont think so, US probably will ways to destroy superman incase he joined Russia, China or ISIS. At the same time russia and china will also have their own thinking. What if they have the power, will they be strong enough to be the new superpower instead of US? And what if US hold superman, will they be strong enough to own the world now?
On the other side, even if US were to acknowledge superman as a good man/superheroes, how much do they know about someone from outer space? How can you ensure a good person will stay good forever?
What if ISIS got hold of superman mother and gf, will superman listen to ISIS and all hell break loose?

I feel the story is very realistic

For me, they destroyed the Batman character. No conviction, portrayed as an indecisive wuss and plays like a sidekick.

Might as well call it the Superman: I Am God....

Wonder Woman saved the movie, barely, for me. Looking forward to her own movie - can see that Gal Gadot really relished the role and enjoyed herself. Very believable as an Amazonian.

I bet majority of the cinemagoers will be wondering abt the dream sequences and who the F is the guy screaming prophesy. This part, would have been better as an after-credit scene of Bruce having a nightmare, then ending with Sups punching him in the cellar, waking Bruce up.

This batman killed so many people in this movie. The batman I know will never cross this line. And this batman is a dreamer. Kept dreaming in the movie. I was surprised he used gun to defend himself. Luckily it's just a dream.

Lets not forget batman in past movies/show does kill ppl also. Altho not reali shown/dwell into the fact.

Even in the early comics, batman also kill.

The best/familiarize portrayal batman is the one that dont cross the line of killing. Similarly, I also favour it.

For this DCEU BvS,

I think we can juz enjoy it as a separate universe.
Bear in mind, this batman fighting crimes for 20 years. Nothing has changed and his robin died. I strongly believe he is feeling drained/despair and definitely will cross the line to reach his goals & leave no more chances. Altho the movie nvr explain this clearly, can juz infer from his age and story/past experiences thrown to us.

Even as a dc comic reader I feel the story telling and pacing is horrible. Only redeeming qualities are the fights and cinematography

Definitely agreed with you! But that doesnt make it a lousy movie with 30% score at rotten. It could have been an epic movie with its story, tone and direction but the choppy editing and pacing kills it. Luckily, the fights & cinematography are all on point.

Urge ppl to go watch it with less expectations.

Good that you point out the dreams and stuffs. They are there to setup the DCEU future story plot. Hints of darkseid, injustice, flashpoint paradox. All are possible atm. In additions, there are the lazy script writing. Batman emailed WW with videos. LMAO!
These could have been removed and focus on the politics that superman faced and how they need to fight more. I am sure the pacing and flow will be greatly improved.

The dream sequences, except for the knightmare scene, is to show how Bruce is still not over his parents murder and that he is still being haunted by it and can't get over it.

Y'all must realised that the batman in the beginning of the show is not the batman we know. He's been damaged by 20 years of fighting and also suffered the loss of Robin at the hands of the joker. He went off course from his mantra because of it and became more aggressive and less caring about the criminals he's taking down.

Upon hearing that clark's Mother has the same name as his Mother, though merely a coincidence, he found superman in the same position as he was when his parents were being murdered, unable to do anything, A GOD unable to do anything. So when he promised Clark that he will save his Mother, he's using it as an outlet to redeem himself and sort of save his Mother, by pretending that clarks Mother is his Mother? Probably lol. So by the end of the film, we see a different batman, one that has been brought back to the right path by superman, though he is still wary of superman, now that he has knowledge of the future and the arrival of darkseid.

Don't blame you for saying that, cause its hard to explain that in a 3 hour movie unlike reading a novel where there will be some sort of explanation here and there. The weird nightmare Batman has is actually some sort of telepathic impulse let off by Darkseid, signalling his impending arrival. I did not know until i went to youtube to search for clues as I firmly believe that the next super villain is Darkseid. Because at the end Batman told Wonder Woman he had a BAD feeling that some thing is coming and they will need all the meta humans to do battle hence the reason he went to confront Lax in the prison to find out more.

The part where Batman saw Sup as villain is how the Earth will become should Darkseid manage to gain control of Superman and humanity. In drama Smallville those that are under Darkseid telepathic influence will spot an Omega brand on their forehead only Sup via X ray vision can see. Those flying insectoids are actually Parademons from Darkseid home world of Apokolips.

That is because this Batman is now Batman senior not a Young Batman full of drive and energy and most importantly more cynical and grumpy and full of anger and less caring. I guess this batman should be in his late 40s or early 50s? Imagine you at late 40s early 50s ask you to run SOC in full gear you can? ******* die for you to see sia :s13:

An old and matured Lex Luthor doesn't make sense in this film. It's also about his descent in the more serious and cunning Lex Luthor, from the billionaire tinkerer in the movie.

im guessing darkseid will appear in both JL and JL2. like thanos in avengers infinity war 1 and 2.

brainiac probably in MoS 2 or secondary villain in one of the JLs.
