beijing - side trip recommendations

Hello all, I am travelling to beijing for 10 days in end April!

Anyone can share/recommend if there is any affordable side trips out of beijing?

Currently, i am looking at tian jin, will most probably take a early train to tianjin and travel back to beijing by night time.

Tianjin nth much.. quite boring.. atas shopping area, somewhat similar to Macau Venetian..

Can be done in a day.. morning take bullet train.. evening come back..

Depends on what one is interested in any place can be boring to ppl
I know ppl doing to Niagara Falls and DC and find those place can be done in half a day. Crap even Grand Canyon can be done in 30mins to some

You can try this place called Gubei Water Town - its a new tourist spots and very popular even amongst the locals.

Try dianping app to see where are some of the popz places you can go to, and the recommended restaurants around ur area. I couldn't live without the app when i worked there 5yrs ago.
