Hi,

I am considering a career in the insurance industry. I understand that it is best (and mandatory) to obtain all the certification to its fullest. However, other than possessing the licenses, I would like to know what are the benefits of having these certifications such as the CFMAS, ChFC, CLU, etc etc.

Other than all these professional certifications, what other certifications are needed such as a Bsc. Business Management? Marketing? Or even a MBA? Msc?

Can anyone advise me?

P.S if I have posted in the wrong forum, can someone also guide me to post this on the right one?

CFMAS is a regulation regulated by MAS for all financial adviser to have to advise on consumer on insurance products and investment link products. You must pass all the papers before you are able to sell insurance.

As for other accreditation, it just looks nice on your name card or help boost confidence on your clients side (may or may not) to know that you are actually well verse in the products that you are selling (more knowledge).

Second that.

You must pass the required papers before you are able to sell insurance/financial products.

Go read from the MAS website.

If die die need one, then take Certified Financial Planner (CFP). Rather portable. UK recognised CFP as Honours level equivalent. ChFC is pretty on par with CFP in the US, if not more popular. CFP more active internationally. There's a 3 years experience requirement for getting the CFP and/or ChFC iirc. Try google FPAS and SCI.

Hope it helps.

Cheers!
