Hi, just like to ask, when a beret has been placed under the bed for a long time in order to season it, does this step of soaking the beret in water followed by shaping it needs to be done? In order to season it further or something?

Kindly advise. Thanks!

I belong to the era of the old infantry green conversion to the new olive green.

I didnt soak my new olive green when i receive it, merely leave it underneath my bunk bed for 1 month , went to brunei come back everything nice nice, doesnt have to soak in water. Just shave off the extra "fur" at places

Don't have leh. The only time i soaked my beret was when i agar the wrong size and ended up with a slightly bigger size beret, so i soaked it hoping it would shrink.

I also cut out the inner lining one (hence agar'ed the wrong size when getting replacement). I also never shave the beret, so troublesome for what? Just fold it the way you want the beret to be presented then place under your pillow and let it season naturally.

So no need to soak in water if already seasoned under bed?

If you ask me, there is no hard and fast rule. As long as the end result is what you intended, anything goes.

I soak because i want the beret band to shrink, not because i want to shape it. But if soaking + seasoning under bed/pillow works for you, then go for it :)
