Hi everyone, I bought a 4g router and use tpg SIM card however the speed is slow like turtle… I asked tpg staff before and he say the SIM card is only for phone, router cannot check… hence I suspect tpg restrict the speed When using in 4g router…
Does anyone use 4g router with good speed? What plan did you subscribe to?
FYI, I tested with ZYM mobile and it’s the same

about 2 years ago, while tpg was stil lin the trial stage, i used the sim in a xiaomi/redmi hp, using it as a usb modem for my router. speed was slow - speedtest was about 40-50Mbps up/down - but acceptable for normal use. I have not used them since they concluded the trial.

there is a thread in here, discussing tpg vs other SIMs in 4g routers. i think about 3-5 months back

The router 4g modem also play a part on the speed? You using what router?

Base on the table, the real wold speed is usually 30-50%. ( Example CAT 3 says 100mbps download u will get 30-50mbps). So please check the router CAT rating.

LTE CategoryMax Download SpeedMax Upload Speed
Cat 110 Mbps5 Mbps
Cat 3100 Mbps50 Mbps
Cat 4150 Mbps50 Mbps
Cat 6300 Mbps50 Mbps
Cat 7300 Mbps100 Mbps
Cat 11600 Mbps75 Mbps
Cat 12600 Mbps100 Mbps
Cat 15800 Mbps226 Mbps

My “go to plan” even for some enterprise 4G fallback (tier 3 gateway on pfsense) is the SingTel gomo 4G 50GB which is on offer at $15/mth now, not sure if still on. Simba (then TPG) and COL or any other I’ve tested are just super unreliable with turtle neck speed and coverage. I am personally holding 6x no contract 4G/5G plans and they are all gomo/ST. When come to mobile coverage, no provider comes close. If you wanna try M1, then M1 MaXX.

For AIO 4G routers I chose either Tplink, Asus or MikroTik. For higher end routers/firewall, I prefer a custom build USB modem using EC25.
