Hello all,

I am currently planning my itinerary for Tokyo City.
After coming back from Hakone, i will be touring around Tokyo and i want to know when is the best time to visit these attractions.

For example,

1. Diver City Gundam, i heard that there is a light show on the Gundam at 7pm onwards.

2. Meiji Shrine/Tsukiji Market, would it be good to visit on weekends/Weekdays?

3. Asakusa, avoid the weekend crowds? or join the crowded fun?
4. Harajuku - weekend spots for youngsters?
5. Roppongi - ?

or if anybody know if a recommended route to visit these attractions?

Thanks!

1. yes, there is light up in the evening, but i personally find it underwhelming. however, odaiba is generally more beautiful at night, especially the rainbow bridge and statue of liberty

2. meiji shrine will be more crowded on weekends. however, if there are higher chance to catch a wedding there on weekends. tsukiji market have moved, so i dunno wat it is like now.

3. i will just avoid the crowd

4. harajuku is more happening on sundays and u may get to see cosplayers. but if u not into these, then avoid as the crowd at takash!ta dori is scary

5. no idea

route will depends on how many days u have, and wat other places u are visiting. in general, try to group places that are nearby together. e.g meiji shrine and harajuku; ueno with asakusa.

1. Odaiba is more than just Gundam. Do read up more about it like Venus Fort, Toyota showroom, Legoland, Takoyaki/retro museum, etc. The whole place is nice at night but it may be overly cold and windy during winter months.

2. Meiji shrine can visit during weekends but avoid Harajuku. Tsukiji anytime also crowded but try weekdays better.

3. Asakusa, totally avoid weekends. Fun and crowd doesn't always go together in Japan.

4. Harajuku - I find this a major tourist trap but you can take a nice stroll along Omotesando or Cat Street.

5. Roppongi - Been there once only. Nothing unique to offer unless you're into the art museum there and maybe some cafes/clubs

How many nights do you intend to visit and when?

oh wow, thank you, that's alot of good information.
I will be visiting Chinese new year February period, 10 days...
I will be covering Mt fuji for the first 3 days and remaining 7 in Tokyo City.

I am travelling with 1 2yo kid and 2 elderly though, looking for places suitable for them.

10 days is just about right. You can also consider day trip to Yokohama or Kamakura. Elderly may like to visit Chinatown and visit a few temples there. The ramen museum is also interesting but need to book a time-slot. Can make your own noodles from scratch to packaging.

With elderly in mind, you can definitely skip the crowded places like Harajuku, Shibuya and spend more time in Shinjuku, Ueno, Asakusa, but of course this is just personal preference. Some elders particularly like Ginza. Can also consider Kichijoji and rent a boat ride at the lake there. Fun for all ages.

Ueno park is now well regulated, the performers have permits and there's regular announcements to report those without. It's still a great place to see performers on weekends.

odaiba - good place and can entertain your kids

meiji shrine - can be done in half a day and you can go harajuku afterwards ... more of a place to people watch

asakusa - more of a obligatory photo shoot place but there is a lot of nice eateries there

roppongi - more of a shopping place to me ,like ginza
