1. Jiufen Remains of Copper Smelter/YingYang Sea 九份 十三層遺址/陰陽海
An abandoned factory located at Juifen used to be a Copper smelter. Workers brought mines to the factory; got mines selected and did copper refining.
YingYang Sea was made by water pollution of mining activities in the past. A large amount of industrial wastewater was poured into sea which turned water into yellowish blue. If you would like to visit YingYang Sea, please do not get into the water because it is poisonous.
2. Nantou Caodi Wetland 南投 忘憂森林
921 earthquake caused rock slides which blocked river course and created Caodi Wetland.
3. Tainan Sihcao Wetland 台南 四草
Sihcao Wetland is also called Mini Amazon. It has a large amount of natural resource, especially mangrove forest. Visitors are highly recommended to take bamboo raft to explore this place.
4. Hualien Mukumugi 花蓮 慕谷慕魚
Recently, Mukumugi hit the headline because tourists cause damage and pollution to Mukumugi.
The name Mukumugi is originated from Taroko language, which means “This Place”. When Taroko aborigines immigrated to the place, they were amazed at the beauty of Mikumugi. That’s why they name this place Mukumugi.
