Can someone help to explain how my opinion warrants NTUC points?

parchiao,

You have received a warning for the following offending post:

Biden has dementia, so cannot attend.

:s13:

Your post (The absence of attendance for the 2 presidents from the world largest economic power house - China and US at this year ASEAN submit) has resulted in a warning with 6 points. Your account's access may be limited due to the total amount of warning points accumulated.

Biden obviously has early dementia. Examples.

What his voting base thinks.

Almost 2/3 of Americans think Biden is not mentally fit to be President. See item 18. It's a poll, but there are not many who dispute this.

Observations from left leaning The Hill

And last and most important, nothing has been debunked about his mental state. Again, from left leaning The Hill.

Checked on your warning.

We received complaint by other forum members that your post was misleading and throwing shade on the topic that was being discussed. Clearly, "your opinion" is misleading and not medically proven.

Thank you and have a good weekend. :)

@Dr.Vijay

Can you help have a look at this reply from a fellow Administrator?

The key phrase in the reply is "Clearly, "your opinion" is misleading and not medically proven."

I made a statement in good faith, and received 6 points. I gave my reasons for doing so here in the above thread, but got the above reply, and the thread was immediately closed.

If you look at the links I gave in the above thread, making an assumption that Biden has dementia is not misleading. My opinion is no different from majority of US citizens. So how am I misleading anyone when I am just quoting what I am reading in US MSM?

1. Majority of Americans think he does not have the mental sharpness to be President
2. His voting base has concerns over is mental health, even citing dementia.
3. Traditionally Democrat leaning MSM are highlighting his mental health
4. Most of all he has never published results of his cognitive test.

Next comes the part about medically proven.

1. There is a lot in the forums that are just opinions, and most cannot be proven. If the basis for the 6 points is because something I said cannot be proven, then should I report everything else that cannot be proven?
2. Dementia is something that can be observed, it does not require medical proof. I have seen the various stages of dementia with people in the same household i.e. beginning to end. Nobody needs to take my word for it. I just want to point out that Biden needs help getting from one place to another, or people telling him what to do, what to say etc. It is consistent with someone who is exiting early stage dementia.

When you combine all the above, it is clear that I am NOT misleading anyone, the need for proof to substantiate all opinions is impossible, and that it does not always require medical professionals to make valid conclusions.

I would humbly ask that the 6 points demerit be removed, and hope you will help to make this right.

Thank you.

Anyone above a certain age will experience forms of cognitive decline or cognitive impairment. Yet, this does not equate to dementia.

The thread topic that you were warned for was about the leaders of the USA and China not attending the ASEAN summit and the post you have made states that the president is not attending because he has dementia. This is untrue and misleading.

A reason on why he is not attending can be found here:-

While skipping ASEAN, Biden will fly to Asia for the G20 summit in India, then visit Vietnam to elevate ties.

@Dr.Vijay

I am not trying to be funny by opening another thread. Please help to merge this with the main thread.

I don't seem to have the right of reply, so I hope that the thread not be closed until at least I have had a chance to reply.

Let's look at this item by item.

1. I have already provided evidence that Biden has never released any results of his cognitive tests to the public.
2. Your presumption that Biden does not have dementia, and it is just old age, is just as believable as my presumption, considering the above point. How does it make you right and me wrong?
3. I have mentioned that the signs are there i.e. Biden does not know what to do and need assistance in telling him where to go, what to read etc. This are not just normal signs of old age. These are signs of early to mid stage dementia.
4. Setting aside Biden, how is calling out someone with dementia considered to be a bad thing that warrants points for demerit? In this case, I have provided sufficient evidence to come to this conclusion and is absolutely not baseless e.g. when the US press and citizens are also asking.
5. Let's be mindful that the symptoms of old age and dementia overlap. My conclusion is based on item 3.

1. I am not sure why you provide this explanation. ASEAN Summit is not concurrent with G20 and Vietnam visit. LHL and Jokowi are attending both.
2. It is well known that Biden has significantly fewer engagements as Obama or Trump. Even the liberal press alludes to this as something to do with his age. https://www.nytimes.com/2023/06/04/us/politics/biden-president-age-2024.html
3. Is it a baseless opinion to make i.e. Biden cannot possibly attend so may events because of his age?

I cannot see how anyone can substantiate everything they write. On my part, I can only show I do it in good faith. I think I have provided sufficient reasons that I am not making baseless claims.

The point of reply is only for the 6 points i.e. I hope to have it rescinded.

There were zero presumption made pertaining to President Biden’s health. What I had merely stated was a medical fact on age and cognition.

I am not here to engage in a discussion with you on whether the President has dementia. I am here to adjudicate whether what was posted is intended to mislead or not.

The reason it was misleading is cause it was listed as a statement of fact - I.e. he is not attending because he has dementia. However, I have also shared that the President is scheduled for Summits and State visits.

It boils down also to the question on whether does having dementia have anything to do with not going for the ASEAN summit or could the non attendance simply be due to scheduling reasons?

Due to these reasons, the moderating team has made the decision to uphold the warning and we will not entertain further appeals on the matter.

Can you be clear?

So if I say something like "Biden has dementia, so cannot attend", is that in your opinion construed to be "intended to mislead" or was it "it was misleading"?

If something I said is in your opinion misleading, are you saying it that can also be construed as me intending to mislead others? Even when I have given you my basis that I have mentioned in good faith?

On your point about what I say as a matter of fact. What will it mean to you if I say the following? Am I trying to mislead others? Am I saying something that is misleading? Are you able to provide a proper definition of what is acceptable for others to say and how to say it?

1. I think Biden has dementia, so cannot attend.
2. I think Biden has dementia, so cannot attend too many events.

I honestly believe Biden has dementia, and I have already given my reasons. What is the acceptable way to put it across that does not warrant NTUC points?

We regarded that it was misleading.

You are well within your rights to believe that the president has dementia but you cant say statements that are untrue. Now, even if the President has dementia, he is still going for engagements, giving speeches, travelling. The statement you have made is wrong and misleading - not supported by evidence.

That’s all we have to say.
