Anyone stayed there recently?

I've stayed at Bintan Resorts area last week and despite the nice place in general I would not stay there again - too expensive.

I'd like to know if anyone stayed at Trikora and what was your experience. What I am looking is basically a air conditioned room at beach, no need to be fancy.

Any recent experience or thoughts?

Bintan Agro Beach Resort

I've never been to agro beach resort, but wanna go there someday. hehe.

I'm sorry but $210 per night is not my definition of affordable or cheap, knowing that at Nirvana Gardens I paid $160/night and that for me is expensive.

I am looking for an air conditioned room, no more than $80/night for two people.

P.S. And the mentioned place charges 20% extra when it is Singapore public holidays (note - the place is in Indonesia). For this reason alone I'd not stay there.

Forget Bintan lah!

It is a SG colony. If you want cheaper and nearer, Batam. But the beach is not to shout about. Further and better cultural experience, Bali.

Seriously, if you are looking for a good vacation, forget Bintan. For the price you are paying, might as well fly and go to some place better.

Have you been in both places? I have. Trikora which is outside of resort area has more appealing atmosphere (to me) comparing to Batam.

Well, do you have cost benefit analyses for other locations comparing to Trikora?

Here is what I want:

- secluded, clean beach
- outside of beaten tourist trap areas - I do not want swarm of foreign tourists with screaming kids around
- air conditioned room for no more than $80/night with all taxes and fees included
- safe place

I am open to suggestions. Which place in Bali would fit above qualifications?
