Hi guys, anyone bought those bladeless fans for home usage?

I heard from one of my friend that these bladeless fan blow out cooling air, because the dept store is air conditioned. He say it will not be that cooling in hot weather. :s13:

Am considering the Dyson model, but before i buy wanted to hear some reviews on it first.

Thanks!

Your friend is right, don't bother with these bladeless fans unless you are using it in aircon environment. I tried it before in harvey norman / best denki after reading the comments in hwz. Turn up to the max and it will sound like a hair dryer (cheapo hair dryer and not like the $600 dyson hair dryer).

Buy an Air Multiplier™ (be it Dyson or China ones) at your own risk. Unless you love to be suckered in by marketing, stick to Panasonic F407YS

tldr - both bladeless fan, bladeless air purifier capable of doing PM0.1, evaporative cooler all don't buy.

Here's a picture, last one is Dyson.

"Portable" aircon also don't buy. Spend the money on a proper split unit.

If yours is rented unit, then LLST lor. Go find a proper rented unit.

Oh yeah, some tell you evaporative air cooler can put ice cubes, would be cold.

That is not untrue...workable.

But they would not tell you that over time, mold would grow on the humidifying media, simply coz SG RH% is too high, so you can't exactly dry the humidifying media fast enough within say 15 mins of drying time, after which you can store.

Then LLST, go buy a new evaporative cooler, then the cycle repeats.

Bladeless fan, please don't waste your money. Just as you have rightfully pointed out, they are not cheap, and while you expect it to be cool, it is not. The airflow is really poor as compared to a normal fan. I rather you buy an air circulator at less than half the price of a Dyson.

As for evaporative cooler, I would also recommend against it. The reason is because while it can cool you down if you use ice water, it just adds more water into the already humid Singapore air. This could also damage your wooden furniture and electronics.

In my case opted for a portable aircon after some considerations. I would recommend getting a single split aircon, but for my case, I just did some reno and repaint at home. If they are to separately install another unit, this will involve some works that will damage the paint job. Therefore, with a cheap 12K BTU portable aircon, I can temporarily avoid this problem and yet still keep my living room reasonably cool. The main downsides are higher power consumption and noise.

I have used a Dyson heater with bladeless fan function before, it's fine. However a standard fan is far less expensive and works just fine.
