BMT Sgt beret

Have always been wondering, why some bmt sgt wear blue beret instead of green but they have infantry vocation. Anyone explain thx

Beret colour has always been based on which formation your unit comes under not your vocation. Only exception would be non commandos or non guardsmen posted to commando or guards units.

Like i said its not based on vocation. U can be a storeman but if u are posted to armour its black beret but a storeman in artillery its blue beret.

In this case i can only assume they are merely seconded to the unit & not perm staff.

I am a comms technician in an armour unit and everyone in the workshop platoon wears black beret instead of dark blue.

Anyway, to answer TS' question, those BMT sergeants might be from those non-infantry mono intake units doing BMT in Tekong.

Please lor. U go to armour unit, storeman wears what color? Black. You go infantry unit, storeman wears what colour? Green. Go combat engineer unit, storeman wears blue.

The only exception is guards & commando where obviously storemen or other non guardsmen vocation will not wear khaki & non commando vocations will not wear red.

Super warrant derrickgoh is right. Beret color is based on formation.

Because of 面子, some refused to "downgrade" their beret color to their formation's one.

Military police wear blue beret but is under combat vocation and pay scale.

MP Command is under 2PDF, an infantry unit formation.

So colour of beret might not be according to formation.

Or maybe MP is the only exception.

Do support role but take combat pay.

combat engineer also wear blue beret and is considered combat vocation.

MPs posted to SAF MP command beret is blue but if u notice the beret crest is not army crest its MP crest.

I was in engineer unit & the MPs in our reservist unit had blue berets cos SCE is blue but oddly their beret crest was army nof MP.

I always thought beret is based on vocation? When I down pes I change from green to blue beret.

Maybe some people down pes forget to change beret.

There was one period the colour of infantry beret changed. Last time the green looks a bit like dark blue before they change to olive green. Maybe they wearing the old beret?
