quoted BMW is conducting a global recall of over 575,000 vehicles, including various 2 Series models produced between July 2020 and July 2022, due to a fire risk. The issue stems from a faulty starter motor magnetic switch that can short-circuit and cause overheating.
In Singapore, 2,303 vehicles are affected. Key Recall Details (216d & 2 Series):
* Cause: The engine starter motor's magnetic switch can wear out prematurely, leading to a short circuit and potential fire while driving.
* Affected Models: Includes 2 Series Coupé (G42) and other, similar 2 Series models manufactured within the July 2020–July 2022 timeframe.
* Symptoms: Inability to start the engine, or warning lights related to the battery/starting system.
* Remedy: Authorized dealerships will replace the starter motor (and potentially the battery) free of charge.
