I spent between 1-1.5k on average every month. When they first charged the fee, they told me that its a good card which is why they cannot waive my principal card fee. I kind of agreed, so I paid up.

Then within a week, they changed the T&C. So I called up BOC to complain. The officer advised me to appeal for another waiver and if the waiver appeal is rejected, then pay up what I owed the bank minus the fee and then cancel card.

So I did that and also decided to set up Maybank Saveup account and transfer out the bulk of my savings. Together with UOBone, I reckon I can earn even more interest now while spending less on credit card.

I paid initially. Then later I paid my outstanding credit card bill but I minus away the annual fee and called up to cancel the card.

Consider dbs multiplier pair it with posb everyday. Interest not as high though.

I am going China soon.. this account can deposit RMB is it? Cos I dont to bring a huge stack of RMB note in my wallet. In China, I can just using the debit card to withdrawn cash in RMB from their ATM, right? No additional charges?

You need enable oversea magstripe use and can only withdraw from BOC ATMs, not other ATMs. Only the UnionPay debit card, not the MasterCard.

It uses bank rate for exchange rate.

Yes. You can.

Actual bank rate is not that lousy. It is around 1% less than public rate. Definitely worse than those remittance rate.

Via the normal online bill payment function deducted through the Smartsaver account. You can't pay SP bills via the BOC credit cards.

I just came back from China and during my 5 days there I had used my BOC unionpay debit card a few times. The conversion rate is around 5 which imo is pretty good compared to the money changer in sg that offer 5.05 at prior to my trip. Note: a lot of established restaurants like Din Tai Fung and Hai Di Lao do not accept Visa or Master card.
