I just came back from China and during my 5 days there I had used my BOC unionpay debit card a few times. The conversion rate is around 5 which imo is pretty good compared to the money changer in sg that offer 5.05 at prior to my trip. Note: a lot of established restaurants like Din Tai Fung and Hai Di Lao do not accept Visa or Master card.

Diamond dual is a credit card.

When you swipe , it charges in RMB. Have to go bank to make payment where they apply the day conversation rate to SGD. not sure if there’s any other way but that’s what I did back in April. Having a unionpay makes life easier in China.

While cash is widely accepted, local use WeChat pay for literally anything and everything. Finding visa and master usage is hard to come by

No I didn't make any ATM withdrawal. I changed some money in SG before the trip.

I used the BOC Zaobao Debit Card. I signed that up when it was first launched with $50 Taka voucher promo. So I replaced the previous ATM/debit that was issued when I opened the Smartsaver account with this card.

I used the BOC Zaobao Debit Card at Din Tai Fung, Hai Di Lao and Haoledi (KTV) and a few local restaurants/cafes. All the transactions were deducted from my Smartsaver account almost instantly.

On the first day I also get the hotel staff to help me transfer some money to my Alipay account by giving them cash...as a back up but it wasn't used as I didn't encounter any local restaurants rejecting cash or cards.

May I ask which city you went. Was told Shanghai most places including cab don't accept cash.

I went to Shanghai. No issue with paying cab with cash but must give exact or small notes or prepared to give the change as tips. One of my friend gave RMB 100 for a RMB 16 fare and the driver don't have change so I help her pay with RMB 20 note and tell the driver to keep the change.

If you get partial bonus interest, call them to ask about the 3 GIRO payments.

if you get nothing, its due to not achieving $500 on qualified spending for the Card ( this condition is mandatory and priority ). If not achived, even 6 GIRO also no bonus interest.

Huh? Since when card spend is mandatory? We talking about boc not uob.

Card spend not mandatory. Should still get payment bonus interest. The conditions are independent of each other

Above 60k earn 1%. There is base interest 0.4%.

Can consider placing amounts above 60k elsewhere higher than 1%.

It could be their mistake. I didn’t receive ~$80 interest for card spending this month. After I made a call, they credit it back the next working day.

when deduct from your smartsaver account, is there any admin fee? or strictly based in the bank forex rate on that day?

Make 2 paynow transfers before end calendar month and get interest in the following month?
