Ya. Can just put in $10 first. But must transfer in within 1 day the rest... I dont want to risk it.. just withdraw cash from my scb acct and deposit to boc. Same atm anyway.

Btw. Their internet banking only works on windows and IE. If youre using mac then cant use. The login paswword mechanism is using custom made activex software..
don't know don't ge kiang.. i'm using BOC ibanking on safari on my apple macbook pro.

sorry. give wrong info..

the CS lady told me so (safari and macos not supported) during account opening, then when reach home, I tested on my windows pc, it require downloading their .exe file for browser plugin.. So I assume what the CS said is correct..

Just tried and it seems the boc website able to detect the browser and os, and download the appropriate .pkg when using mac..

Hi all, may I know what is the branch code pls? I think my HR need a "Branch code" entry in their system... Thks

This is where BOC gets very messy.

According to one BOC CSO:

"Please refer to "Upgrade of interbank GIRO infrastructure from 23 March 2015"
http://www.bankofchina.com/sg/custserv/cs1/201503/t20150318_4746706.html

This GIRO upgrade is an industry- wide enhancement of the current interbank GIRO payment infrastructure led by the Association of Banks in Singapore (ABS).The branch code is not required anymore. Our SWIFT code is BKCHSGSGXXX."

As usual, the advice of any CSO (and in fact, any advice from given over in this forum) is to be taken with a pinch of salt and the reader is advised to exercise caution.

011 is for main branch. mine opened at north branch, also 011

It appears that BOC has sychronised all their outlets to be 011 (main branch), regardless of where the accounts are opened. ACH (Automatic Cheque House) code, which is so important
for Giro Salary, is not used by BOC at all. The latest update on ACH guide is provided by UOB
http://www.uobgroup.com/assets/pdfs/global/achcode.pdf

Also, under FAQ 8:http://www.bankofchina.com/sg/custserv/cs4/201308/t20130806_2399036.html
My new account number has 15-digit numbers, but Giro application forms only have 11 spaces for account number. How do I fill in?

Your new account number begins with "6500", which is a standard code. There is a set of 11-digit account number beginning with "9" after "6500". This will be the set of account number you are advised to use when filling up a Giro application form. For example, if your new account number is "650091234567890", please fill in "91234567890" in the Giro form.

Thus, in summary, if the BOC account number is 650091234567890 and HR does not use SWIFT code, then the format to be given to HR is:
Bank code: 7083
Branch code: 011
Account number: 91234567890

This should work.

Indeed, from opening account to setting IB token, downloading some software, setting up GIRO, applying credit cards, linking up credit cards, spending per calendar spend, straining ears to listen to chinese accent, and more to come. These are hard work.

Good to know that. This month is still a holidaying month for setting up. Moving funds from 360 once BOC foundation is ready. Wonder how many sets of $60k BOC is getting from OCBC 360.

I am getting total 2.5 % for my savings.

Just wonder should I setup a corporate account and pay myself salary monthly via giro, any advice?

Are taxi apps considered online spend? Tough to hit 500 cos normal spending not considered. Anything to hoot at the department stores?

It's not so simple. Besides all the paper work...are you going to pay your own CPF as well? You better have all these ready for audit if you want to test the system.

Huh.. the $500 must be online spend?

don't need if you just want to get the bonus interest.

500 online spend is if you want to get 5.5% cash rebate for boc shop card. if you don't hit 500, all your spend is only eligible for 0.5% rebate (1000 and below spend), or 1% rebate (above 1000 spend)
