Boot Drive setup

Need advice from peeps here ..

I have a MSI Z390 Pro A recently purchased. The boot drive is a Adata SX8200 Pro 512GB NVM with Win 10 installed. From what I've gathered, you need to leave the SATA0 and SATA1 connections with no drives connection. Is this correct?
