If hotel does not come with breakfast, what is a good cheap alternative? Besides eating breads, are there places where you can eat a bowl of rice or noodles for under 500 yen? Do the likes of Matsuya or other chains open for breakfasts?

Guys, share your favourite breakfasts in Japan.

I dont like having rice for breakfast, so I go for bread all the time. Bread from supermarkets, or go Western style restaurants, or hotel buffets. Or just Macdonalds since they have big breakfast with pancakes now

My favourite breakfast is the seafood don in Hakodate when staying next to the morning market. Are there every morning.

If you want to save some money, can visit supermarket in the evening before closing and grab the rice balls/rolls on discount. Very filling and cheap.
Otherwise, a baumkuchen cake or melon bun is also a good light breakfast.

Yes Matsuya and Yoshinoya are open 24/7

Nothing like a satisfying pork donburi at Yoshinoya in the morning. Add 70ÂĄ for a raw egg to mix into the fluffy rice....mmmmm

Thanks for sharing your breakfast ideas.

Ya, i usually buy some breads the night before to use as breakfast next day but i would like some variety so a bowl of rice or noodle for under 500 yen would be a nice change.

Unless the price is under 1000 yen. Actually, I don't need good stuffs for breakfast, something hot to fill my tummy like a bowl of rice or porridge, miso soup, some pickles and maybe an egg will do.
