you guys ever wonder that from Jan 2021 until October 2021, vaccination increase to 85% and cases became 3000+,

How is it that within one month plus the vaccination increase another 12% only yet the cases suddenly dropped to 300+ ?

Anyone can tell me why?

so moi think the Omicron ish originate from the passengers bags lo. must be the bag handle lo.

like that jialat. all the tray handle sure have Omicron since everyone must use tray for dine-in and return then no one clean that part de.

Maybe ish time to ban PG MG from dine-in. they be first to die sure.

so if he's not close contact, he will only be tested for the normal variant, and not tested for the Omicron variant?

Assuming same incubation period as Delta (4 days), that goes into my window of when Omicron has spread locally, 3-5 Dec.

Why does it take 8 days to confirm Omicron?

SINGAPORE: A loading assistant at Changi Airport Terminal 3 has tested preliminarily positive for the Omicron COVID-19 variant, said the Ministry of Health (MOH) on Thursday (Dec 16).

The local infection, known as Case 276615, is fully vaccinated and has mild symptoms. The 42-year-old man had no contact with flight passengers in his job as a loading assistant, said the ministry.

He developed a fever on Dec 8 and sought medical treatment at a clinic where he was tested for COVID-19. His test result came back positive for COVID-19 infection the next day, and he was placed on home recovery.

"As he was subsequently identified as a close contact of Case 279330, his sample was tested for the Omicron variant on Dec 16 and his test result came back preliminarily positive," said MOH.

Case 279330 is a 54-year-old man who works as a loading cabin assistant at Changi Airport Terminal 3. He was reported as preliminarily positive for Omicron on Wednesday.

"The National Public Health Laboratory is conducting whole genome sequencing to confirm the variant and contact tracing is ongoing," the ministry said of Thursday's new case.

Case 276615 is currently recovering in an isolation ward at the National Centre for Infectious Diseases, MOH added.

All close contacts of suspect Omicron cases will be placed on 10-day quarantine at designated facilities and undergo polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests at the start and end of their quarantine, said the ministry.

People identified to have visited places the cases were at, and who could potentially have interacted with them, will be issued a seven-day health risk warning.

"To date, there are 24 confirmed Omicron cases detected in Singapore, with 21 imported cases and three local cases," said MOH.

HOW ASSURING THIS STATEMENT BY

At a press conference on 14 DEC 2021 by the national Covid-19 task force, Associate Professor Kenneth Mak, director of medical services at MOH, said that the 14 imported Omicron cases are people who had entered Singapore after going to countries such as Dubai, Finland, France, Germany, India, Mozambique, Nigeria, Qatar, South Africa, the United States, the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates.

Most of them were detected when they tested positive for Covid-19 on arrival.

As for the two airport workers, they were detected through work-required routine regular testing. They had no symptoms and were fully vaccinated.

There is no evidence that they were infected by people in the community. Their exposure to Omicron is likely to have been from workplace exposure to infected travellers in the transit areas.

Assoc Prof Mak added
We do not have any evidence so far to suggest that Omicron variant is spreading in the community. But we must be prepared for the possibility of more local Omicron cases and clusters arising in future,”
