A 23-year-old full-time police national serviceman was found with a gunshot wound to his neck at 328 Pasir Panjang Road on Oct 15.

The officer was subsequently conveyed conscious to the hospital. His service revolver and remaining ammunition were accounted for and seized at the scene.

No other person was injured.

Based on preliminary investigations, the wound was believed to be self -inflicted, and police said they do not suspect foul play. Police investigations are ongoing.

NSF mata should never be given live rounds to hold in private, or any firearms for that matter. guns should be check in/out strictly for range practice or specific high risk missions (e.g hunting an armed terrorist).

SG is not US, chances of police needing to use firearms in regular neighborhood patrol over various other non lethal interventions are extraordinarily low
