Hi my nintendo switch console just died on me after using the nyko dock. I have a local warranty but was advised to get in touch with nyko about my switch condition. Anyone able to advise me here. I just bought my console for 3 months

Well Nintendo responded appropriately. It's like if you break your phone with a sledgehammer you should tell the guy not to break it with a sledgehammer instead of telling the phone maker to stop making their product breakable by sledgehammer.

Sadly a Google search of nyko dock already returns the search suggestion nyko dock breaking switch so you are losing a battle of liability here.

And not just Nyko, but docks in general, with a Switch updated to firmware 5.0

RMA the Switch and stop using the dock.

If it's not painfully obvious by now, please do not buy 3rd party ANYTHING.

There's a new dock announced by Nintendo. At least you can charge while playing it when not in docked mode
It's not a dock, just an overpriced stand. There is no HDMI output etc. You can accomplish the same by using many mobile phone or tablet stands - basically just need to lift the Switch up so that the USB-C port below is accessible. Probably can just use a USB-C cable with L-shape connector (along with the built-in kick stand).

If anything i learnt from the past, is that nintendo consoles are not very 3rd party friendly.. best to just stick to 1st party stuff, however overpriced it is.
