i would say that u dun touch or change any default settings. unless u really knows whats the issues of the speed.

But may i first ask whats your ISP and the speed u have through the speed test.
Next make sure u are connecting via lan.

A few steps for you to make sure u have full speed (if possible):

Switch off router den next your ont. wait for 10 sec
Switch on ont wait for 10~15 sec den on your router. test the speed again.

Thanks for your replies both. Have already tweaked the settings previously so am not too sure what are the default settings. How do i reset the adapter? Anyways, i am getting around 600 mbps for download speed based on speedtest before and after tweaking.

1) What's your router model?

2) Your LAN cable how long? How old is it? Have u change a new one or a better quality one?

3) How many people connecting to the router?

4) Anybody downloading any huge files?

5) What's your operating system? XP is based on old tcp stack which cater for narrowband.

Thanks all for your replies. My Cat 5e cable is kinda long actually. Have laid it from my hall to my room so i guess that could be 1 reason. Another reason could be because i am using Windows 10. Don't seem to find any new driver update for the adapters. Anyways, have already reset my adapter to its default settings and Starhub has advised that for a 1gbps plan, its good enough to hit 600+ mbps. Lol

Guess my antivirus might also be affecting the speed but don't intend to turn it off. My router model is DLINK DIR 868L.

someone mentioned in M1 thread that setting power plan to "High Performance" improved the speedtest result :

If too long and not properly land the transmission may be affected.
If you want, you can contact a contractor to help you
setup a LAN point in your room.

Cost is about $1XX-$2XX varies on contractor and the distance
it need to cover.

Recently bought a PCI-E Broadcom adapter to replace the Ethernet function that my onboard network adapter failed.

Seems good so far.
