Which brokerage provide the cheapest rate?

most require 0.5% for < $50k
dbsv state 0.375% and 0.5% (for advisory online clients)

Broker assisted trading? It's very expensive. Easily set you back $80++ for a buy+sell whereas if one uses SCB, the cost can be cents.
Also note that, the 0.5% you listed may not include the minimum comm yet. Most brokerage house charges a minimum $25++ for buy/sell online trade.

Anyone above 21 can open a brokerage account, no need to put a single cent, it's free. If you want to trade though, yes, put in whatever amount is needed for the trade and comms.

If you don't need to use assisted broker, best don't.
