As far as i know there are 3 types of 'brokers'.

1) Proprietary Traders: Work for the company, not allowed to trade FULLSTOP, trades for the company, salaried by the company.

2) Dealers: Works for the company, can trade for themselves through the company (needs approval), trades for clients, pay is half salaried half commission.

3) Remisier: Considered self employed, can trade for themselves with company resources (have broker only feeds, has a feel for the trading floor etc), trades for clients, fully commissioned.

All of the above have quotas to hit 1 most strict, 3 least strict. Also, getting these positions as a job same order: 1 hardest, 3 easiest (companies are always looking for remisiers because they are riskless money makers).

Not really answering your question but gives u some insight as to what you are aiming for la.

SG companies usually have many types of traders and their term for traders means they either don't specialise/specialise in stuff. So if you're a pure forex trader they do employ provided you have good results and a proven track record of profits 1-2 years would be good gauge.

Some headhunt you from your brokerage, which is quite rare unless you are those sort that has 45% POI/month or something ridiculous to let them take notice of you.

On average profitable traders usually have a minimum of 10-20% gain.
But if you look at the largest investment company in the world you only see like 1-5% because its averaged out.

But yea local traders earn between 8-10k plus commission but you have to be able to take the stress of your superiors pushing you especially when you don't hit quota.

Just to let you guys know, you'll be competing against the smartest grads for a place too which is tough.

when you say quota, what kind of quota?

profit quota. eg. 1% profit per month.
