The increase in price of water may set off another inflationary cycle as businesses pass the increased cost of treated water to consumers, and it affects many levels of the supply chain.

However, hopefully Singapore can be more water self-sustainable.

We need to be prepared for a challenging year ahead.

Maybe the Finance Minister can exercise a more compassionate approach towards the man on the streets.

did Malaysia increase water price? Unlikely since our water contract with Malaysia ends 2060. So why the increase in water prize? The govt argues water price has not changed for 17 yrs. Come on, the water contract with Malaysia was signed for a duration of 100 yrs from 1962 to 2060. So the water price malaysia charging us is the same for 100 yrs!!!!! do we need more new water plants now?????? because of growing population????? technology cost would only become cheaper. if there is no urgent now, we can build more new water plants 10-20 yrs later instead of now.

The government is taking money from us and give money to the business sector.

Simple as that. The economy is unstable and uncertain so the government is finding ways to get more money this year to prepare for the worst.

But the Ministers' salaries remain the same. And not one of them takes public transports to work EVERYDAY. Ironic...

Taxing on water = taxing on ppl's need. Tax should be implemented on wants, not needs.

PUB said the Waterborne Fee (WBF) fee will increase to 92 cents per cubic metre for households that consume 40 cubic metres of water or less each month, from July 2018. A second tier of the fee will be introduced at a rate of S$1.18 per cubic metre for households which use more than 40 cubic metres. PUB said this is to discourage households from using excessive amounts of water.

This 2 tiers Waterborne Fee is, in my personal opinion, not properly crafted. Examples:

(1) Let's say family A cook, dine and wash dishes for every dinner VS family B that always dine out. Family A is sure to consume more water.

(2) Let's say there are different number of family members. Family A has 6 household members (i.e. 2 grandparents, husband, wife and 2 kids). Family B has 4 household members (i.e. husband, wife and 2 kids). Possible for family A to consume less water than family B? In this way, family A gets penalized indirectly for staying and providing care for the aged elderly.

and have we see them riding a bicycle or scooter as in

as a stronghold that everything will be safe till 2060.

The critical mass is already known about the difference
in the population, that by 2030 it is predicted that 50%
will be immigrants. Have you wonder where do all these
immigrants come from and what will they do with their
lifestyles and activities?

There are reasons for having a minority to be the next
President. Once you know the reasons you will be more
aware and be more equipped and prepared instead of
being still sleeping in the backyard.

Our current population should be abt 5.4-5.5m. If we keep the population at 5m, we absolutely don't have to worry about water supply.

5 million is a huge number. The supply must meet the demand. If not, we are doomed.

I respect the late Mr Ong.

However, the MIWs dun like anyone mentioning that name.
