Hello Pros,

It has been 5 years since i last used a PC.

I do not need OS, already have a 22 inch monitor, no need DVD Drive. I have 3 or 4 Laptop HDDs, can reuse lagi better.

I'm looking at the I5-3570 and Mobo combo + a Decent Gfx card and power supply. Will need ram also.

Any recommendations ?

Thanks

Get haswell, the price is not that much difference. Also better IB already EOL and the motherboards cannot use newer CPUs.

Go for Asrock H81M-DGS + 4570 = $311
Gigabyte 270x $329
Superflower 500w 80+ gold $89
Ram 4gb 1600 x 2pcs = $90

Slightly above your budget but worth while.

Intel cunningly also does not allow you to upgrade CPU on LGA 1150. :vijayadmin:

Are those DVD drive and HDDs running off SATA or IDE interface as such?

CPU+MB: Intel Core i5-3470 + ASRock B75M-DGS @ $292
Intel Ivy Bridge paltform utilise lesser power as compared to Haswell even if the latter is a newer one as results have proven.
RAM: ADATA Premier DDR3-1600 CL11 4GB X2 @ $86
GPU: PowerColor R9-270 2GB @ $244
Just an underclocked R9-270X, save yourself $50 from R9-270X and you can still achieve maximum overclocked performance less than 10% off maximum overclocked R9-270X - 1110 vs 1180 MHz
PSU: Super Flower Golden Green HX-500 [80 Plus Gold] @ $89 (Mynextcom)
CASE: Sharkoon MS140 @ $52
Small chassis that can hold up to 6 x 2.5" HDDs out of the box.

Total: $763

Optional:
GPU: PowerColor HD 7870 2GB OC @ $280
HD 7870 (non-LE) has the same exact unlocked chip as the ones in R9-270/R9-270X.

Buy others from Tradepac, #05-19.
