Budget AMD FM2 Built recommendation for HTPC

Hi guys,

I am a first timer computer builder. I need some advice on budget AMD FM2 build for HTPC around $700++. My list as below;

Casing= Fractal Node 304 ITX
Motherboard = MSI FM2-A75IA-E53 Mini ITX or Asrock FM2A88X-ITX+
CPU= AMD Dual-Core A6-Series APU A6-6400K with Radeon HD 8470D
RAM= 8gb ( dunno what value for money)
SSD= 120+gb brand not sure
Harddisk= Western digital 1TB
Power supply= Corsa*ir CX*430M *80+ B*ronze* Cert*ified* Modu*lar(notsure enuff onot
GPU= any recommendations or is the APU sufficient?

A6 is a bit neither here nor there. Rather you get a Pentium G3220 and LGA 1150 ITX board. RAM get G.Skill or Kingston value ram. Shouldn't cost you more than $95 for 8GB. SSD can get Crucial M500 $129. 430W is more than enough. Can even downgrade to the 300W FSP PSU at PCthemes for $38. Don't really think you need a GPU cos you're just watching standard HD video right?

If you wanna prepare your htpc for 4k advice get a i3 haswell though... But 4k not coming anytime soon so agree with wtfh4x get a Pentium and gpu can do get about it first...but do note that amd setups here don't save as much as you see in the US or Canada countries video... Cause you know it's Singapore hahahaha

AMD A10-grade CPU, A6's HD 8470D like graphics, at fraction of cost of A6 APU.

SSD: Kingston SSDNow V300 120GB @ $115
HDD: Western Digital Green 2TB @ $110
ODD: Samsung 24X CD/DVD Writer [OEM] @ $21

More than enough even for such system.

i have a few questions
a) is space a concern? m-atx casing/ mb are not that much bigger and they r cheaper
b) is upgradability important? actually it doesnt matter cos
i) currently series 8 mb will not support beyond haswell refresh
ii) no guarantee fm2+ will support very far either
c) for htpc with ssd, i assume u need sata 6/ usb 3 and hdmi
d) htpc don't need 8 gb ram unless u have other purposes for the system
e) htpc no need much cpu or gpu unless u are going UHD 4k (which begs the question if you actually have a 4k screen and videos)

if you want the cheapest decent htpc (which was what I got my parents), its actually a fm1 based system. Power consumption may be more than an intel but at htpc loads the difference is small (idle they are similar, max load amd sucks power; but htpc almost never run at full load)

I have something similar for my parents (cpu/mb similar but the rest I source from amazon etc)
