Budget build

I’m looking at doing a build, but reusing certain parts. Here are some of the parts I’m specifically looking at

Cpu: i5-8400
Mobo: no preference
Ram: reuse ddr4 rams (2x8gb)
GPU: reuse gtx 970
PSU: reuse 750W
Case: tecware nexus M (Matx)
Hdd: 1tb
Ssd: 120gb

Will need wifi for this build, apart from that really not much preference~ appreciate any help! Would like to keep cost as Low as possible.

In other word, you only need a mobo lar?

Go for MSI B360M Mortar Titanium is a good choice. Couple with a PCIe WiFi like TP Link Archer T6E, which isn't too expensive.

It's better to go with a board that has better vrm for a 6core professor.

Is there a significant difference between the VRM cooling? Is the MSI one better? Got difference between built in wifi and getting one that attach to PCIe?

With and without heatsink, for low phases vrm driving a 6 core, have quite a bit difference. On max load, can have up to 20 deg difference. Even though vrm components can withstand quite a load and temp, but sustaining about 100 deg for long term is not healthy for the vrm overall.

So, Msi is better than the Asrock one.

Built in one on that Asrock board, being a low end motherboard, the wifi card isn't a very good one. Tp link one while being more expensive, it's a AC1300 adapter nonetheless. So, with the correct connection (5ghz), the speed and latency is better. Coverage should be the same. Both have 2 antenna.

Wifi adapter u can either get USB or PCIe, both has it own pros and cons.

If the router is not in the same room and your casing is place on floor against the wall, PCIe would be a terrible solution.

I suggest you to use USB instead as you can plug an extension cable to place the dongle wherever you want for better reception, you won't go wrong with it as the technology is very advanced now.

My USB wifi adapter is much better than my Intel AC9260 PCIe wifi card because the signal strength from pcie card will not be as good as a well placed usb wifi dongle unless you get an extensible antenna.

The latency i have is only 3-7ms, 250mbps for my tp link ac1300 usb wifi adapter at stable 3/4 signal strength. The PCIe card is 20-30ms, 50mbps at 2/4 signal strength, sometimes will break off. Both are on 5GHz.
