I haven't touch or read up on digital cameras for years, can introduce some compact digital cameras to get for a teenager?

Low budget, entry level with optical zoom will be good enough.

If your budget is really low, might be better to use the cameras on a flagship phone instead. Highly likely to get better results

Kids...the reason they gave, different...seems like more devices better and lately the trend is like digital cameras making a comeback.

Nay... it's just a "trend" for Gen Z using a compact camera is considered "hip, cool and unique" as not many plp use compact cam in that price bracket . However, if you are serious about photography as a hobby, then yes it still worth investing in better and more expensive cameras.

Decide on the purpose then look for the appropriate camera.

Got iphone liao. I think it is more of following trend so I am taking my own sweet time to look around and ask my folks got any lying around somewhere in their house.

Can get a used point and shoot and let them play around see if the "fad" goes away or actually grows into something else more substantial.

If dun mind used gears, carousell sometimes got good deals.

I got an old A5100 with kit lens for $200 for my girl to play around with. ( bought a cheap neoprene strap separately ) , image sensor is APSC size.
