I'm considering these for my first PC build

Asrock FM2A75M-DGS + A10 5800K $248
Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz CL9 8GB $95
WD Caviar Blue 500GB $70
Sapphire HD7770 GHZ Edition 1GB $169
CM Extreme Power 525W $69
Corsair Carbide Series 200R ATX Case $79

total $730

Any comments would be appreciated, wondering if 8gb RAM is overkill.. and if there's a cheaper case/PSU combo I can look at

Thanks!

Change your HDD to 1TB it's just $10 plus more, much more worth it.
Change your ram to valueram, budget build just get cheapest ram.

If you want cheaper you could go for a 6000series gpu. Crossfire it with your apu. For the apu to work faster for graphics section. Get a faster ram clock speed.

Sapphire HD7770 GHZ Edition 1GB $169 < downgrade to HD7750 to run CF with 5800k performance better than stand alone HD7770

read my review for more 5800k vs 6800k benchmark

I will likely go with 5800K + 7770, no offence but I'm sceptical of crossfire working as well as marketed.. two discrete cards, sure. but discrete+IGP.. :s22:

Also.. will I get by with 4 GB? Ty :D

U can get by with 4gb ram. You won't really get by with 1GB gfx for long.

U can always increase ram at cheaper price compare to changing a whole gfx.

Dont be skeptical. With the correct 6000 series gfx crossfire with igp. Its should be better performance than your standalone 7770 imho.

CPU & Mobo: i5-3450 & ASrock B75M-DGS @ $291
Ram: Kingston 1600mhz value ram 4BG @ $42
HDD: Hitachi Deskstar 1TB @ $80
GPU: Powercolor 7850 PCS @ $240
Shouldn't have any problem playing most games at mid-high settings on 1080p resolution.
Case: Generic ATX case @ $20
PSU: FSP Raider 450W @ $68

Total: $741
Buy and build at Tradepac.

Your budget allows you to get intel i5 processor and a decent discrete gpu so you don't actually need to crossfire APU with a lower tier discrete gpu. Furthermore, imo, i don't really like the idea of hybrid crossfire as it consumes more power and might produce more heat as well.

This is one good budget Xfire review on the 6800k.

BTW TS i have went down to tradepac this afternoon.

For your the Asrock FM2A mobo plus A10-5600k or 6800k is just only $32 away leh. Why don't consider a better one instead?

Since you still thinking about the 7770 then you can pair it better together with the 6800k. A good combo. IF you still think that the $32 is still some money to you. Then get the 6800k and Xfire it with the 7750 instead. Lagi cheap.

$741 is already further stretching TS's initial budget of $700, although Nippon's build has relatively more value compared to TS's AMD one.

Of course every step up (7770/7850/7870/etc) is only $30-60 difference for most low end to mid-high end cards, if everyone's just gonna keep one up and suggest the next better card then what's budget for? A "7950" or a "7870 myst" @ $290 would already be close to half of his entire system budget, makes sense if he wanna squeeze the most out of his dollars but I doubt TS has that intention with the 200R case and Vengeance rams.
