Budget Gaming Rig Advice

Hi guys,

I have shortlisted the below parts for my Gaming Rig,

Purpose:

1)Playing FPS games targeted at Ultra Setting eg Battledfield 3, Black Op2
2) OC clocking (Good to have but not a Must)
3) SLI (Good to have but not a Must)

1) MSI Z87-G45 Gaming Mobo
(Cheapest Killer E2200 game enabled board that supports Nvidia GPU ???)
2) LGA 1150: Intel® Core™ i7-4770
3) Palit GTX760-JET2048
4) Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz 8GB(1x8GB) (CMSX8GX3M1A1600C10)
5)Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit)

Hope to further reduce to closer $1.1k budget.

Would definitely prefer a killer E2200 board. Any reason for me to get the Cheaper 1155 board instead? Seems to have more models that will support Nvidia graphics card. Need this pc to last at least 3years

Not sure of mobo but I think i5-4570 enough for u..

U might wan to consider get a ssd thou..

Do you want to play Ultra with BF4, crysis 3??? Coz if you want to SLI, you would need to get a new PSU, 750-850w.

i7 isnt needed for games, get i5-4570 will do.

Get 2x4gb corsair vengeance ram, make use of the dual channel, and in the event 1 fails, at least got 1 more still running.

CM690 isnt a fantastic case, not much airflow.... try fractal design arc midi r2 or R4.

Can add a plextor m5s 128gb ssd if you want, mainly for OS, impt applications.

Killer E2200 used to be good, but it is overhyped in this era...\

As for power supply, you gotta decide if you want 2 SLI or not...

SLI Probably not. BF4 maybe, but BO2 ultra Yes.

Lookin in tat direction, but nt willing to lose >10% fr 4770 perf . Unless price difference >20%

2 x 8gb. I have habit to open 20-30 windows tabs. And ctrl+ win & do net surfing during game pauses

Well, if he gonna reuse his PSU, den you can drop the idea of SLI... And since you want to OC your CPU, get the z87m-g43 board. Still allow you to OC, but no SLI, yet cheaper at the same time.

You can reuse ur case n hdd bah.... But set a budget at least?

The perf gain in fps from i5-4570 to i7-4770 is very very little. not worth your money.

You can get 2x8gb rams, if you foresee yourself using a lot of it.

CM690 do support mATX and ATX, so it should not be a problem. Only problem is the cable management in it. If can do it well and dun starve your gpu with air, then that will be good.

How old is your PSU?

An i7 the most give you extra 10fps. Bullshyt and seriously useless. Take that money and pump into a good graphics card. This will give you the biggest performance jump. Not CPU.

Next an 8gb is still more than enough to open 20-30 tabs. I have open 30 tabs with some flash based website and I still have 5gb of ram left. The only real ram intensive usage will be the Photoshop or rendering applications then yes it will be needed of 16gb.

To fit in a high end graphics card even a titan can fit in the r4 or any mid tower size. So far all the cards never utilize more than 390mm. The most is 380mm++.

And for killer Ethernet. It only works with lan ports. There are other mobo do offer killer lan. But not the price of MSI g45 gaming mobo. That I agree. And yes there is a good improvement in gaming response time. I ever went 11ms on bf3. Kuddos to MSI for that we can actually react first before enemy press fire.

shld be older gen i5-3770 win i5-4570.

In terms of pricing a1155 Z87 board with i5-3770 is cheaper den a 1150 board Z77A with i5-4750. I know its now an apple to apple comparison (since board price is very diff) , but in $$ terms seems more worth.

think my view more torwards Performance per dollar $$
