Can someone explain why I can no longer enjoy 8D songs? I used to be able to hear the sound moving around my head, but now it's just going from soft to loud—there's no more surround effect.
What is your setup.... your IEM wired or wireless TWS... or full size headphone... it depends on the model....

The 3.5mm headphone jack hasn't changed much, which makes me wonder if the issue might be related to my hearing.

No, you don't need special equipment for 8D audio; you just need headphones or earbuds to experience the immersive, moving sound effect, as it relies on tricking your brain using separate audio channels delivered directly to each ear. Standard over-ear headphones work great, but some listeners find noise-canceling or higher-quality pairs enhance the effect by isolating the audio better.

Not your hearing.. could be your setting or just physical issue like jack never insert proper so you end up with mono sound... so check both.... because what you describe sounds like it is playing the sound in mono...

And if your 3.5mm is regular TRS which is 2 ring.... and you plug into a jack that is for TRRS which is 3 ring... which is usually the front panel jack on your PC... you might end up with mono sound only, for my case when I put in regular 3.5mm into it.. only 1 side have sound.

AI Overview

TRS (Tip-Ring-Sleeve) and TRRS (Tip-Ring-Ring-Sleeve) are 3.5mm audio connectors, differing by one extra "Ring" in TRRS, allowing TRRS to carry stereo audio plus a microphone signal (like for smartphone headsets), while TRS typically carries stereo audio (left/right) or balanced mono, common in cameras and pro audio gear. The visual cue is one black separator band for TRS (two metal sections) vs. two bands for TRRS (three metal sections).

TRS (Tip-Ring-Sleeve)

  • Contacts: Three (Tip, Ring, Sleeve).
  • Function: Stereo audio (Left/Right channels) or balanced mono signal.
  • Uses: Headphones (without mic), cameras, portable recorders, studio gear.
  • Look: One black dividing line on the plug.

TRRS (Tip-Ring-Ring-Sleeve)
  • Contacts: Four (Tip, Ring, Ring, Sleeve).
  • Function: Stereo audio + Microphone + Ground, or Composite Video + Audio.
  • Uses: Smartphone headsets, gaming headsets, tablets, laptops with combined jacks.
  • Look: Two black dividing lines on the plug.

I mean if I really want I can still use an extension from the back of the motherboard lar.. but... dun bother lar, it is not even my default soundcard I use... I used Creative ZxR that I bought more than 10 years ago and still working great... but the resolution kinda low if you compared to most modern DAC AMP... it max out at 24 bits 19200hz... :ROFLMAO:

Not sure if this is the correct place to ask, but do you all know where to find lossless Canto/Mandarin songs? So difficult to find sia.

I just bought iFi Zen Dac 3 from taobao for 270. When I listen to my iem, will have channel imbalance lol.
Do you have other IEM to test?? And check if your ear tips is installed properly... ear tips can play a lot into sound quality... then check if your ear got any impacted wax...

That day I was looking at this model.. because this one if you connect to your PC... it will help stream at higher quality to your wireless headphones and TWS earbuds... most PC dun support high lossless codecs...
