Check the user comment before you decide. Qoo10 is risky for this kind of product.

yeah, read through all of them,s eems to be quite positive reviews

also they have a physical shop in sg as well which makes it much more "trustable" lol

but are there alternatives other than this model?
i checked through the chromebooks but their storage capacity too small already :(

Chromebook! Acer C720. Much faster than any $500 laptop cos of ssd. The Celeron and 2gb ram flies on the light and simple Chrome os.

Check out YouTube to see the performance and reviews. Or go to local stores to try it out. And it costs less than $300 and weights 1.4kg with 8 plus hours of usage. I just ordered recently and awaiting arrival from USA.

Quite amazed that I have left out such a capable machine at a good price point.

Acer cheapo notebook with 1-yr warranty, sold by PC Dreams. It's a very low power dual-core Celeron, should be fine albeit a bit sluggish if you're used to i5 laptops with SSDs. Qoo10 - Brand New ACER ASPIRE ES1-111-C3NT Original Windows 8.1 Dual Core Cele... : Computer / Lapto...

I believe if you buy from the store and pay in cash (ask for cash price/cash discount), you could get as low as $339. Rest of savings you can either keep or spend upgrading RAM and/or SSD :)

One thing to take note, for Acer, once harddisk is remove, they void the warranty of the machine. You will need to put back the harddisk so that they will not void the warranty.

The RAM and HDD are located under the same area, thus opening up the laptop does not void the warranty.
Acer allows RAM upgrades, but not HDD upgrades.

So by right, once I swap for SSD is consider void. But if I need to send back for warranty, need to put in stock HDD and Acer will view it as not void - did I get the understanding right?

Yes. you got it correct for the Acer.

Edit: just realised that this thread is old & revived :s22::s22:
