Total around 1K. Any advice on parts? How is the upgradeability on this build?

You can consider getting Ryzen CPU instead of the Pentium G CPU. Can take a look at Ryzen 3 1200. its a true quad core and the L3 cache is much higher than the Pentium. You can consider getting corsair or seasonic PSU for lower cost.

Going g4560 = dead end for processor. Next gen cpu comes out = change board + processor.

G4560 is good if you want a cheap mining/gaming rig which after 3 years when u have the cash, sell and get a new(better) rig.

Gaming wise, most current gen games onpar with the ryzen 3 1200 when paired with the same gpu in terms of fps. The 1200 is better at multi threaded stuff when compared to g4560 but dont expect it to blow your mind at this price point.

Hi cozywitch,

If you can wait until 21st Aug (less than 2 weeks away), Intel will be launching Coffee Lake CPUs, then it's better to wait and then make a comparison between Intel & AMD. You can always buy the rest of your components first (besides the casing) while waiting for the CPU.

But if you need to buy your PC now, I have the following suggestions (shop names in brackets). Ryzen 3 can be overclocked using B350 motherboards. Prices shown before any discounts:

CPU & MB Bundle: Ryzen 3 1200 & Asrock AB350M Pro 4 @ $297 (PC Themes)
RAM: G.Skill 2400Mhz 8GB @ $90 (PC Themes)
GPU: Palit GTX1060 StormX 3GB GDDR5 @ $298.50 (Lazada)
SSD: Western Digital Blue 250GB M.2 @ $136 (Lazada)
Hard Disk: Toshiba 1TB 7200RPM @ $63 (PC Themes)
Casing & Power Supply Bundle: Tecware F3 & FSP Hexa+ 450W @ $80 (Tradepac)
OS: Windows 10 @ ~$12 (Carousell)

Total Cost = $976.50

For further discounts on Lazada, you can use their Citibank credit card promo code (OFFICIALCITI) for 8% off (capped at $20), LiveUp (5% rebate) and Shopback. Keep a look out for other credit card promos as well.
