Budget PC for my dad

Hello, I am looking to get a simple small form factor PC for my dad.

I did some research online and came to these specs:

CPU: Ryzen 3200G 3.6 GHz
CPU Cooler: (default cooler)
Motherboard: Gigabyte Aorus B450i Pro Wifi (M-ITX) 326
Memory: Corsair Veng LPX 2933MHz CL16 16GB 109
Storage: Adata XPG SX8200 PRO M.2 512GB 139
Video Card: (using integrated graphics)
Case: FD NODE 202 M-ITX 129
Power Supply: SILVERSTONE ST45SF-G 450W SFX 80+ GOLD (3 YRS) 119
Monitor: Asus 23.8” VA24EHE FHD 75Hz IPS LED 169
Total: $991

I have some questions:
1) Is the power supply overkill?
2) Can a standard GPU fit into this case? I am not too sure of the typical dimensions of a GPU, which is why I didn't include it in here.
3) Is Adata or Transcend a more reliable brand? Samsung seems too expensive for us.

If there are any areas which these can be optimised, please let me know, thank you guys

You might wish to specify what the PC will be used for.

2) The casing supports GPUs up to 310mm in length according to the manufacturer.

3) Adata SX8200 Pro is a good choice for SSD. I've been using one for a couple of months with no issues at all.

you planning to buy and assemble all parts in 1 SLS store or?

Some suggestions if your dad just using pc for casual use:

Ram: just go for 8gb - save 50%

Storage: u can buy from Qoo10 - Tammuz ssd 480gb from korea: $80(use as OS drive)

then if u need another hdd to store files: u may consider buying Seagate Barracuda Compute(7mm) - 1TB: less than $70

Video Card: stay with Integrated Graphic

Oops, thanks for pointing it out. Simple office work & YouTube, netflix etc for now. Maybe my siblings can use it occasionally to game (lightly) but nothing too heavy.

Great to know, might be building it myself since I saw a few videos on its assembly

I was thinking of assembling it myself since the YouTube videos appear to be straightforward. Only worried about the cabling part which could be a bit challenging for a first-timer.

RAM wise, my own laptop is running at 8GB, not too lag but is 16GB good for future-proofing? If not, I can cut it down to 8GB to save some money instead.

Noted on the SSD & GPU parts.

Are there any main differences between Seagate Barracuda drives and WD Blue drives? I only know they are both 5400rpm but that's about it...

Go Inwin chopin .. cost around 129$ .. both a casing and got build in PSU .. save you a ton of money .. and dont forget to remove the AMD fan shroud before you install the whole cooler on the CPU

i3 cost saving so much meh? This board is a WiFi board unless you are not using the similar range board from Intel. Otherwise the total cost would be very close.
And btw, why Intel when AMD gives you more performance?

If you decide to go with self assemble route, buy the motherboard/cpu and ram from the same shop. Ask for a free power-up test for these 3 items(before you paid!). You can verify on the monitor, the correct cpu model and ram capacity that you are getting. Don't disassemble them since you have already cleared the most critical assembly step. Bring home it and assemble the rest.

8gb is good enough for now...

Only thing to note is wifi speed is greatly affected by the placement of your pc. If pc is in line of sight of router, all is well with your list. Else get a mb w/o wifi.
That said, I'm not familiar with casing, so ... gl

AMD seems to give me more value as compared to i3/i5.

Remember that you can't play games at 4k or high quality settings

Depend on what you want to use it for. If not for intensive work, you can top up a bit more to get a mac mini with OS and app similar to office. Not forgetting you still havent include the OS and office price if you need one in this build
