Deskmini with 2200G/2400G is sufficient. cheaper and more powerful than nuc and can play games. Also has hdmi 2.0 for your 4k tv

Can upgrade these old mini desktops for gaming in a few ways but have to be imaginative. Eg, can fit in a full size 750ti if willing to cut open a slot for the pcie card as often the motherboard has pcie card slot just the casing no clearance for graphic card. Hello decent PUBG/Fortnite pc.

For around $300+ pc with windows, last a month is paid off already. Can last a year is huge ROI return.

I initially considered those. But if I can get more performance for the same price, why not

Very simple , i from intel jump to AMD , i didnt see very big diff

My recommendation, just check out the Aftershock Vision Mini. It used to be cheaper, but despite the price going up (smaller SSD storage size and more pricey RAM upgrade), its still a good PC. Even with the recommended base specs @ 550, its more than enough for your dad. The fact is while you can DIY on your own and get it cheaper, do you have time to troubleshoot if the PC goes down? If not, the paying a little more for the warranty is not a bad idea. No need to build overkill rig, unless your dad really requires a high end system based on his usage patterns.

some more AMD APU with A320 board surely sufficient for TS' dad usage la. even some light gaming. Given the same budget, i3 I wouldn't see providing same power.

I3 now is 4c 4T with 4.2ghz , not enough for light use? I can even game AAA with my i5 4690
